1978 Bob Mackie one-of-one fully embellished open-back gown, as made for and worn by Alexis Smith. Long sleeve high neck drop waist gown with hand-beaded gold-tone embellishments throughout, accented by rhinestone embellishments that cascade diagonally across the body. Mock neck with Dolman sleeves fitted at the wrist, with an A-line skirt and slight train. Lightweight off-white silk organza with elaborate embroidery and partial lining at bodice, with semi-open low cowl drape back. In very good vintage condition with minor missing embellishments throughout.
An extraordinarily rare custom Bob Mackie creation as the final costume of Alexis Smith's 'Platinum' show, this dress is quite heavy and luxuriously fully beaded - Bob Mackie noted:
"It was probably the heaviest dress I ever made [...], but she knew she looked good. But if she ever fallen down, she would've never gotten up again."

Best fits size US 4 - 8 depending on desired fit due to bias cut construction.

Waist: 15" at drop waist / high hip (30" when worn)
Hip: 16" lying flat (32" when worn); accommodates up to 24" (48" when worn)
Length: 65" from shoulder to front hem; 70" from shoulder to back hem (slight train)
