Once in a lifetime acquisition: 1978 Bob Mackie one-of-one white hand-beaded long sleeve gown: made for, owned, and worn by Cher. Long dolman sleeve semi-sheer silk organza gown with bateau neckline and semi-open back, with intricate hand-embellished white and gold bugle beaded and rhinestone embellishments throughout. Embellished tassel fringe drapes from wrists, adding unique 1970's detailing to this special piece. Partially lined with light brown lining to enhance semi-sheer construction. In very good vintage condition with slight loose embellishments throughout and light wear to train, with cigarette mark at interior (unnoticeable when worn).
Made exclusively for Cher and worn originally for her 'Cher...Special' in 1979 with Dolly Parton, then worn again for the 55th Annual Academy Awards on March 22, 1983. An extraordinarily rare, museum-quality piece from fashion history. Bob Mackie and Cher's long friendship and creative collaborations have shaped culture for the past 60 years.
