c. 1938 Elsa Schiaparelli Haute Couture black crepe draped gown. Extremely rare one-of-one gown with fitted waist and cap sleeve over-shoulder drape paneling that floats across the back, with tiered drape at front skirting. Gathered drape back flatters the body. Built-in corset with boning, waist belt, and concealed side zip closure. Front paneling is attached with small built-in snap closures, and arms have gathered interior sleeves. Similar pieces featured in the MET Museum - an extraordinarily rare piece of fashion history. In very good vintage condition, particularly given age; has been professionally restored by couture tailor.
